On January 1, 2017, Manson was being held at [[California State Prison, Corcoran|Corcoran Prison]], when he was rushed to Mercy Hospital in downtown Bakersfield, because he had [[gastrointestinal bleeding]]. In 2012, CNN ran a DNA match to see if Freeman and Roberts were related to each other and found that they were not.
