The first missionaries, or "walkers" relied on the goodwill of strangers and evangelized to anyone who would offer them a ride, water or a place to stay. According to a member, "We would go into town looking for people who loved God with all their hearts. Our backpacks got smaller as we realized people were really going to take us in. There are quite a few people in our community who we first met through Walkers." The group passes out [[Tract (literature)|tracts]] called "freepapers" inviting guests to visit or even stay with the group. Other events explicitly aimed at the public, such as Friday night celebrations and weddings, draw interested persons.<ref name='Palmer2010'/>
