==Location ==
Located in a remote area in the [[Maule Region]] of central [[Chile]], Colonia Dignidad was located in the [[Communes of Chile|commune]] of [[Parral, Chile|Parral]], in a rural area on the north bank of the [[Perquilauquén River]], about 35&nbsp;km southeast of the town of Parral. The full name of the colony from the 1950s was '''Sociedad Benefactora y Educacional Dignidad''' ("Charitable and Educational Society 'Dignity'{{thin space}}").
